The authority of the airports in Israel said on Sunday that a drone launched in Yemen hit the Ramon Airport arrival room, located near the Eilat city, from the Red Sea, transmit Reuters, AFP and The Times of Israel.

The authority said that the offices and landings at the airport have been suspended, while working on restoring normal operations as quickly as possible.

The Israeli army said on Sunday that it is investigating the collapse of a Drone launched from Yemen and fallen in the airport area near the Eilat resort, on the border with Jordan and Egypt, which mainly serves internal flights.

A person has been slightly injured, according to the Israeli Ambulance National Service, The Times of Israel reports.

The Israeli army confirmed no sirens were heard for the drone that hit the Ramon airport in the south of Israel. IDF stated that it is investigating the failure to identify drone launched from Yemen.

The incident took place after the Israeli army said he had intercepted three other drones from Yemen, where Houthi rebels promised to avenge their prime minister's death, killed in an Israeli attack in August, according to AFP.

Two of these drones “were intercepted before entering the Israeli territory,” the army said in a statement.

The Channel 12 television in Israel reported that four drones had been launched from Yemen, but the army detected and intercepted only three of them.

Several ballistic missiles and drones have been launched to Israel since the Prime Minister and 11 other persons in the Houthi group were killed at the end of August in an Israeli attack that decimated half of the cabinet.

The rebels Houthi, who control the most populated parts of Yemen, also attacked ships in the Red Sea since the beginning of the Gaza war, in October 2023.
