- causing serious bodily injury or a disorder of the mental health of the group members,
- deliberate creation for members of a group of living conditions calculated to cause their total or partial physical destruction,
- the use of measures that are aimed at suspending births within the group,
- Forced transfer of groups of group members to another group.
The act must be carried out in the intention to destroy in whole or part of national, ethnic, racial or religious groups as such – explains Amnesty International in a report from 2024.
The organization focused on three out of five acts mentioned in the Convention:
- damage and destruction on a large scale of key infrastructure and other objects necessary to survive the civilian population,
- repetitive mass waves of forced resettlement in dangerous and inhuman conditions,
- obstructing or restrictions of entry and distribution of life -saving supplies, including humanitarian aid and basic services in the Gaza Strip.
“Israel took all these actions simultaneously, for months without interruption, intensifying their harmful effects. In addition, Israeli bombing gases deliberately caused a very large number of fatalities and wounded among civilians,” Amnesty International summed up.
Omer Bartov also draws attention to the scale of damage and violence made on the Palestinian inhabitants of the enclave.
