Krasnoyarsk scientists suggested that the aggressiveness of stomach cancer can be associated with impaired balance of immune molecules and the level of oxidative stress in the body. This was reported in the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center SB RAS.
According to researchers, tracking these indicators will help in predicting and searching for new combined therapy methods. For example, it is necessary to find out whether antioxidants and drugs that normalize the cytokine balance are able to increase the effectiveness of treatment.
“Adenocarcinoma is one of the most dangerous types of cancer. Gastric cancer remains one of the most aggressive oncological diseases. Understanding his mechanisms opens the way to personalized treatment strategies and can lead to new approaches in diagnosis and therapy, increasing the chances of patients for survival, ”concluded Olga Smirnova, doctor of medical sciences, professor, head of the Laboratory of the Research Institute of Medical Problems of the North.

Such developments can become the basis for the science-production campus planned in the region. Such integration will quickly implement promising methods of diagnosis and therapy into clinical practice.
