The mayor of Galați, Ionuț Pucheanu (PSD), told Digi24 that the data presented by the Government regarding the reduction of the positions in the town halls are incorrect. The mayor claims that the officials did not understand how to complete the tables transmitted by the executive, so that the official figures do not reflect the reality.
According to the Government, Galati City Hall should reduce 44 positions if the 25% or 184 positions are applied if the 45% percentage is applied. However, Pucheanu says that in fact the institution would lose only 24 employees.
“The data we made available were-or the columns in the head of the table required by the Government-so unambusted and unexplained that each City Hall has gathered and decreased what it believed. (…) This means that the City Hall of Galati, if the amount of 45%will be applied to it. Wrong, ”said Pucheanu, according to Digi24.
He compared the situation in Galati with the one in Bihor: “Taking into account the discrepancies between Galați County, where almost 95% of the mayors lose employees, and Bihor County, where only 23% of the mayors would be available, I find it difficult to believe that the mayors of Galați are much weaker than the ones from Bihor”.
Pucheanu said that he supports the reform, but criticized how Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan managed the process: “The direction is correct, the approach is correct, but let's refine the method. You cannot cut with a bontit ax, you need a scalpel. To have a scalpel, you need correct data.”
The government wants to cut over 13,000 positions in town halls
The government has made simulations regarding the personal discounts in the local administration, based on a percentage of 40-45%. In total, 13,098 positions already occupied from the almost 190,000 existing at national level would be eliminated in 1,655 administrative-territorial units.
Among the most powerful cities are Ploieștiul, where 217 positions should be reduced, and Pitesti, with 202 positions cut. The mayor of Ploiești, Mihai Polițeanu, says that the real problem is represented by the municipal companies, while the mayor of Pitești, Cristian Gentea, considers “huge” the reduction of over 200 positions and warns that such cuts can affect European projects.
