– In the current circumstances, the topic of land forces in Ukraine is not the subject of discussion – said the Chancellor. He considered “supporting the Ukrainian army” as a priority.

“I am aware that this war can last for a long time,” added Merz.

The Chancellor again emphasized that the war could not end with the capitulation of Ukraine. However, if the Ukrainian state defeated in the war and lost independence, as he warned – Russia may then attack further countries.

– Then the day after tomorrow the turn of us (Germany) can come – added the head of the German government.

Earlier on Saturday, Merz assessed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin responds to “even greater aggression” to the efforts of Europe and the United States to lead to the end of the war against Ukraine.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that he and Merz would talk during the weekend by phone with US President Donald Trump. According to the French President, Putin deceived Trump that he wanted to meet with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelnski. European politicians argue that for this reason there should be a sanction regime to Russia. (PAP)
