According to the port data, 257 departures were planned on Sunday. To avoid chaos, the airlines were asked to delete half of the flights in advance. Finally 38 cruises were canceled, and six aircraft landed outside Brussels. Additional staff was called to work, but the briefing of passengers is carried out manually, which significantly extends the service time.

The airport authorities appealed to passengers to check the status of their flight from the carrier and come to the airport only in the case of a confirmed cruise. It was also recommended that in the case of traveling within the Schengen zone to appear at the airport two hours before the planned departure, and when flying outside Schengen – at least three hours earlier.

The spokesman emphasized that the difficulties may take a few more days, because the problem has not yet been solved. – The situation is unprecedented. We do everything to maintain the continuity of surgery, but without the support of IT systems, the processes are much slower – noted the representative of the board quoted by Belga.

Cyber attack took place on Friday evening and he took over not only the port in Brussels, but also other European airports. The attack was aimed at the American company Collins Aerospace, which provides systems serving briefing and boarding of passengers. The company confirmed that it is conducting intensive work on restoring the full functionality of services, but the deadline for solving the problem has not been given.
