The Bulgarians are away from the way of the Romanian drivers: “They are completely reckless. Very high speeds, overtakes. I am honest”

Romanian and Bulgarian drivers are often criticized in Europe for the aggressive driving style and for traffic negligence. More and more Bulgarians complain, in turn, the behavior of Romanians on the roads in the neighboring country.

Calloons, flashes, chickens, drowning by car between strips or sidewalks to overcome the column, giving up signaling, swearing and assaults on other vehicles are among the most demanded traffic aggressions, on the roads in Romania.
Bulgarians take the Romanian drivers over their feet
But their victims are not only the Romanians: many foreigners who traveled to Romania complained, in their turn, the “unorthodox” habits of the Romanian drivers.
The Bulgarians, on the other hand, indicate in their turn as undisciplined drivers, have come to complain about the Romanian drivers, both those they meet in Romania, but especially to the Romanian drivers traveling to the country south of the Danube.
“I have a question about the Romanian driving habits. How is the driver's school in Romania and you are even leading like crazy people? Honestly, your tape discipline is as” good “as Americans, the road attention is non -existent, you cannot maintain a constant speed even if life depends on it. And why do you insist on always circulating in at least one convoy of three Dacians? ”, It was the recent message published by a Bulgarian, which generated a wave of reactions on a social page for the Balkans, on the Reddit platform.
Another Bulgarian complained, in turn, by Romanians, but recognizing that the Bulgarian drivers are not prudent.
“The Bulgarian drivers are also terrible, but the Romanians who lead in Bulgaria are completely reckless. Very high speeds, overcoming curves, do not keep the safety distance. I am sincerely afraid-both for me and for them. I really like Romania, but their driving is one of the few things I don't like.” Write this.
Not only Romanians, but generally the Balkan populations have problems with driving, notes a Greek, in the same discussion.
“As a friend of mine says about the Italians: the driving in Italy helped me understand why the Italians are so religious. I suppose they apply to the Balkans.”he says.
The shock in Romania looks so much like that of Turkey, says a Turk.
“For this reason, I felt like home”he adds.
Romania and Bulgaria, high rate of tragic accidents
Romania and Bulgaria are in the first places in the European Union regarding mortality in road accidents, with a rate of over 70 per million inhabitants, according to the statistics of the Eurostat platform (European Commission).
A Romanian explained to the Bulgarians dissatisfied with the way in which many Romanians lead that, in his opinion, the Romanian driver's school is not so bad, and many of those examined need more attempts until they take the permit. The road police evaluate them during the trial and are generally very strict, and the exams are filmed.
“The problem is that the rules are almost no longer applied afterwards. And no one respects them if there is no stimulant. For example, the speed limit is 50 kilometers per hour, but as you do not take a fine unless you exceed by more than 10 km/h, everyone goes by 59-60 (I think they have recently reduced the margin and now you can only exceed 5 km. To step on 80-100 km/h.the Romanian is of opinion.
Bulgarians claim the problems they face on the roads
Some Bulgarians have tried to explain in a simple way the reasons why numerous tragedies on the roads in Bulgaria take place.
“Mentionality. I am the alpha driver, and everyone leads like grandparents”, says one of them.
Other Bulgarians say that the aggressive whisper is not specific to Bulgaria, Romania and not even the Balkans.
“Western Europeans who come here begin to lead this way within a few weeks. The real answer is the lack of control-lack of cameras, lack of legal means to apply fines, small corruption,” says one of them.
Corruption allows inappropriate people to obtain the permit, and the road culture in Bulgaria is disastrous.
“We like to give ourselves like racing pilots and slit the system”, adds a local.
Someone tells that he was visiting a friend in Bulgaria: “He was traveling 180 km/h on the highway, when someone exceeded 200 km/h. My friend accelerated to over 260 to overcome and show him how to do the job.”
A Bulgarian ironically explains the cause for which there are many road accidents in Bulgaria: “Because the Romanians go there on vacation.”
After so many years of Ottoman and Soviet occupation, people still believe that the rules are made to suppress or torment them, says another Bulgarian.
“Most are not really involved in the state and, therefore, they do not understand and do not respect the rules, even if they are for their own good. In communism, the system of the system was a kind of national sport and absolutely everyone participates. add it.
Cars in Bulgaria are significantly older and worse than in Western Europe, and many locals do not allow new ones, with the most modern safety systems.
“The roads are bad. Personally, I had a serious road accident due to a pit on the highway. The police have long been very corrupt. And here you see progress, but gradually”, says the Bulgarian.
As a stranger living in Bulgaria, the driving here must sometimes be seen to be believed, someone else says.
“There is a total lack of respect for speed, for road markings or, in general, for rules. I see overtakes without visibility, over the continuous line, while the driver speaks on the phone – and that regularly. If you add the status of the roads, it is not surprising that the figures are so big. Permanent is destroyed.he concludes.
