The members of the unions affiliated with the Union of the law of the law in the local public administration will trigger an indefinite protest starting Monday, the officials to be present at work but without working with the public.

“The Union of Trade Unions of civil servants and contract staff, representative in the public administration sector, affiliated with the Meridian National Trade Union Confederation, announces the triggering of an unlimited protest starting on Monday, September 1, 2025, 9.00, as a reaction to the abusive measures of reform that the Government led by Ilie Bolojan Parliament ”, a statement sent on Saturday by the trade union leader Marius Sepi, cites Agerpres.

According to him, the protest is motivated by the fact that “the package of measures promoted by the Government brings the most severe blow to the local public administration of the last 35 years”.

The dissatisfaction of the trade unionists

The dissatisfaction of the trade unionists concern the following government measures:

“1.- Drastic reduction of staff by 25% in mayors and by 20% of the prefect's institutions, without clear criteria and without evaluating the social impact.

2.- Introducing the obligation of work with half a time for civil servants, an arbitrary measure that will generate professional insecurity and departure of qualified staff.

3.- Release from office and the transition into the backup body of those who refuse to transform the work report, which represents an unprecedented abuse.

4.- affecting the local police and security services, by reducing the number of positions and prohibiting the organization of structures in localities below 4,500 inhabitants, with the serious risk of leaving whole communities without protection and safety.

5.- flagrant inequity: While the staff in the administration is reduced and pushed to precarity, the Government maintains and even strengthens the number of personal advisers for mayors, deputy mayors, prefects and presidents of county councils- true political self-money.

6.- abusive wage centralization: for the town halls that cannot cover their salary expenses from their own revenues, the salaries of the staff will no longer be established by the local councils, but through the grids imposed by the Government, which cancels the principle of local autonomy.

7.

Marius Sepi specifies that the trade unionists are not against the reform but, on the contrary, they have requested for years real reform measures. “The government refuses to achieve high salaries and non -essential functions, such as those of deputy mayors or public administrators and reduce their number, preferring to bubb in the ordinary employees and in the stability of the local administration. We have proposed alternative measures, such as the dissolution of the vice -mayor and the public administrator, public administrators ”, mentions the quoted statement.

Thus, starting on Monday, the members of the union affiliated with the Union force of the law of all the town halls and institutions and services of the local public administration will adopt as a form of protest the presence at work without working with the public, until the withdrawal or correction of these measures.

USFPPC The force of the law calls on solidarity to all the trade union organizations of the public administration and to the citizens to support this approach, emphasizing that “the reform cannot be built on the spects of the most vulnerable employees and of the local communities.”
