320 km/h by train PKP Intercity. The company accelerates the tender for fast warehouses

PKP Intercity will announce a tender for the supply of 26 fast trains this year, which will serve the High Speed ​​Rail System (KDP) and will run at 320 km/h – Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak told journalists on Monday.

– PKP Intercity will announce a tender for super fast trains this year. We said that we are finishing the butt and we want to go to another tender. We are talking about a speed of 320 km/hi, we also want to reward higher parameters in the tender – said Malepszak.

Earlier, the deputy minister said that this tender was to be announced next year.

PKP Intercity is currently conducting the purchase of purchase for bunk trains that will be able to go at speeds up to 200 km/h. Alstom Polska and Stadler Polska submitted the offers in this procedure. It is about the purchase of 42 electric traction units (EZT) with the option of ordering an additional 30 vehicles. The proceedings are to be resolved in August.

KDP system, i.e. “Y” is to connect Warsaw by CPK with Wrocław and Poznań by Sieradz.

As Malepszak explained earlier, thanks to the speed of 320 km/h, the journey time between cities will be significantly shortened, and such an effect would not be possible if trains to the KDP system, which can reach a maximum of 250 km/h. At the same time, he admitted that running trains at a speed of 320 km/h would increase energy consumption in relation to, e.g. to warehouses that run at a speed of 250 km/h, but this would raise the ticket price by only PLN 8 per passenger.

PKP Intercity is the largest Polish railway operator that provides communication between large cities and popular tourist centers in the country, and also allows traveling around Europe. PKP Intercity took trains last year. 78.5 million passengers, i.e. by 15 percent more than a year earlier and 33 percent more than in 2022.

The company offers traveling four categories of trains. Your railway lines (TLK) and Intercity (IC) are economic connections, while Express Intercity (EIC) and supported by Pendolino Express Intercity Premium (EIP) vehicles – express connections.

The carrier's estimates assume that this year it will increase the number of passengers transported to 88 million, in 2030 – to 110 million (PAP)
