Minister of State Asset Jakub Jaworowski, quoted on Monday by the British daily Financial Times said that Poland would increase the production of large caliber ammunition five times. Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) will receive “in the coming days” PLN 2.4 billion for this purpose – he said.

“Our goal in a short -term perspective is to significantly increase the domestic production of this type of weapon, as well as become independent of foreign supplies and build a durable base for domestic autonomy,” he said in an interview with the British Gazeta Jaworowski.
As the minister informed, PGZ is to receive “in the coming days” PLN 2.4 billion in government funds to increase the production of 155 mm missiles, used in howitzers with NATO standards and 120-mm tank missiles.
Jaworowski noticed that the war in Ukraine showed “the key role of 155 mm ammunition on the modern battlefield, which is needed in large quantities.”
PGZ produces approx. 30 thousand a year Various caliber missiles, and additional financing is to increase domestic production to 150-180 thousand. Annually in three years – FT said.
“While some European arms companies, including German Rheinmetall, are already significantly increasing the production of ammunition, Poland is still struggling with serious deficiencies, and delays in industry attracted the attention of politicians,” noted the British newspaper.
Jaworowski announced that state -owned funds for activities in the ammunition production sector are also applying for, among others Grupa Azoty, the largest Polish chemical group.
A new era is coming in the development of Polish ammunition. We will have our own 155 mm artillery shells
In Europe, there has been a pacifist trend in the last 20 years before the outbreak of war. We were convinced that our continent is an oasis of peace and we are safe until the moment of truth came. Without our own production capacity of ammunition, in the event of a real threat it will be difficult for us – says Andrzej Bulanowski, vice president of PGO, a company from the TDJ group, which prepares a 155 mm ammunition prototype designed by the Military Technical Institute of Armament.
