The package 2 of fiscal measures will be divided into 5 different packages, to avoid any invalidation at the Constitutional Court (CCR), political sources have said. The plan is that all 5 packages, including the pensions of the magistrates, are adopted the same day, say the hotnews sources. The information was also confirmed by Ionuț Moșteanu, the Minister of Defense, in a statement to Digi 24.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan will take responsibility in Parliament for all 5 packages in one day, according to the plan in the ruling coalition. Most likely this will happen on Monday.

One of the 5 packages will contain the draft law that changes the magistrates' retirement mode and age, say the hotnews sources.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ionuț Moșteanu confirmed in an intervention at Digi24 the division of the package 2 of fiscal measures into 5.

The colleagues decided, together with the General Secretariat, to go on five separate packages. There is also a precedent, they have been done in history, I think that during Mr. Boc, there was another time when he went to Parliament with two separate projects. We go with all five, together, it is more coherent from a legislative point of view and removes the danger of a bad decision, in the case of a constitutionality verification ”, Ionuţ Măriţi told Digi 24, quoted by News.ro.

Mosteanu also stated that the 5 tax packages “should stand” at the CCR “and there is no risk of falling”.

The leaders of the PSD-PNL-USR and UDMR governance coalition had several meetings this week, and the discussions continue on the measures in package 2 for which Prime Minister Bolojan will take responsibility in the Parliament. According to the initial calendar, the assumption of liability had to take place this week, but because this step was not reached, this step was postponed.

Coalition sources say that if all things go according to plan, Prime Minister Bolojan should go to Parliament to take responsibility Monday, September 1st.

What the Constitution says about committing government liability

The Constitution specifies that the Government may engage its liability before Parliament on a program, a declaration of general policy or a draft law ”. It is not specified, however, if there can be several laws of laws the same day, as the government intends to do now.

After assuming the responsibility by the Government, the opposition can submit censorship motion within three days. If the motion falls, the draft law is considered adopted.
