The minister explained that more than 20 amendments are prepared, their provisions will be in force in force.

Significant changes will take place in terms of national evaluation in mathematics. Mathematics, learned on the basis of natural sciences

“It will continue to be a mathematics exam, as well as all the tasks will be based on mathematics. However, some of them will request the application of natural science knowledge. Students will not have to memorize formulas or definitions beyond what is already in the curriculum, they will simply have to solve some practical tasks,” explained the minister.

“The regional directorates are the spine of our education system, they see what happens on the field and implement the policies we establish. I will insist that the salaries of the employees be raised, because they have remained following the teachers, in recent years,” Valcev stressed.

Also, the Bulgarian minister has asked the regional authorities to stimulate schools to move away from learning and focus on the formation of practical skills. “Teachers should adopt innovative methods of pressing to motivate students to learn, with less formalism and more emphasis on real knowledge,” the Bulgarian official appreciated.

In addition, school surveillance activities should move away from “checking documents” in favor of assessing activities with children. “When the inspectors come, they should see how the school interacts with the students, not only if the documents are in order,” concluded the Bulgarian Minister of Education.
