A Russian attack interrupted the electricity supply of the mines in the city of Dobropillia in the Donetk region, and 148 miners were stuck underground, a trade union leader, quoted by Kyiv Independent, announced.

“As a result of Russian bombings, the mines in the Dobropillia community have been disconnected from the energy source. 148 miners are under the ground,” said Mihailoleț, the head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions on Ukraine, on his Facebook page.

Volynets did not provide more details about the attack or any rescue efforts. Donetsk region, partially busy, in eastern Ukraine, remains one of the most affected regions of the country.

The industrialized and rich region is facing Russian attacks daily against civil infrastructure and residential areas, forcing many of its inhabitants to flee to the west of the country.
