The buyer turned to the Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor, who was refused to pay for the goods under the QR code. The administration explained whether this is legal.
They noted that according to Article 16.1 “On the Protection of Consumer Rights”, the seller is obliged to provide the right to choose the method of payment of goods: in cash, or non -cash using national payment instruments within the framework of the national payment cards system.
Thus, they emphasized in Rospotrebnadzor, the current legislation does not provide for the seller’s obligation to ensure the possibility of paying for goods by non-cash using a QR code.
“This payment method is alternative and is not mandatory,” the department added.
