Ukraine and Russia can conclude an agreement even without Vitkoff and Kushner – Trump

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that at the upcoming negotiations between Kiev and Moscow in Abu Dhabi on February 1 there will be no Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner. The journalist asked the head of the White House about this.

The American leader responded that Ukraine and Russia could conclude a peace agreement even without his envoys.

“I think yes, they have a chance. We tried… I've finished eight wars. All of them I thought would probably be harder than this. But [президент Украины Владимир] Zelensky and [нелегитимный президент РФ Владимир] The Putins hate each other and that makes everything very complicated. But I think we are very close to reaching an agreement,” Trump said.

The head of the White House also focused on the scale of losses in the Russian-Ukrainian war: according to him, hundreds of thousands of people died, and this, according to Trump, emphasizes the need to quickly achieve peace.

“29 thousand military in one month. 27 thousand in the previous month,” he said.

According to Reuters sources, on the eve of the negotiations, namely on January 31, Putin’s negotiator Kirill Dmitriev will arrive at a meeting with Trump’s representatives in Miami.

The media wrote that this meeting was “productive.” On January 24, the parties continued trilateral negotiations; they lasted more than three hours. Zelensky called them “constructive.” According to the head of the Ukrainian state, the parties discussed a “peace plan” of 20 points, including “problematic issues,” which were initially very numerous, but “they became fewer.”

Negotiations in the UAE took place without progress in politics, but on a shift in the military bloc, the media noted.

Based on the results of negotiations between Ukraine, the United States and the Russian Federation in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24 sides didn't reach a compromise on the territorial issue, Reuters wrote. According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga, the issues of territories and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant are the most sensitive during peace negotiations in Ukraine.
