On Saturday, the Danish energy group ORsted announced that he received from the US administration an order to suspend work on his Revolution Wind wind farm project at the east coast of the USA. The decision was made during the visit of the Danish government delegation to the USA.

“Revolution Wind LLC (ORSsted – PAP) will comply with a decision issued by the Ocean Management Office (Boem) of the US Ministry and will take appropriate steps regarding the work at sea, ensuring the safety of employees and the environment” – emphasized the company in a statement.
The BOEM agency explains the decision with “the fears that appeared in connection with the administration of the projects regarding wind energy in the waters of the USA”. “In particular, he tries to deal with issues related to the protection of the national security interests of the United States,” he added.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized green energy, saying that he was spoiling the landscape, is unreliable and expensive. In the spring, the American administration for a month suspended the construction of the Empire Wind Farm of the Norwegian Equinor.
The Revolution Wind wind farm construction project is being built off the coast of Rhode Island, northeast of New York, based on the final permission issued in 2024 by Bom. The undertaking is ready in 80 %, all foundations at sea and 45 of 65 wind turbines were erected.

Orsted emphasized in a statement that “analyzes all options for quick resolution of the case”, including cooperation with relevant authorities issuing permits and potential court proceedings. According to the company, the purpose of these activities is to launch the Revolution Wind project in mid -2026.
The decision of the American administration regarding the suspension of the investment coincided with the Friday visit of the Danish delegation, with the head of Denmark Larske Rasmussen, on the west coast of the USA. The minister signed a cooperation agreement in the field of green transformation and innovation with the opponent of Trump, Gavin Gavin Gavin Gavin Newsom.
At the beginning of August, Orsted asked shareholders, including the Danish state with most of the shares, to increase capital by 60 billion crowns ($ 9.4 billion). At that time, there were problems with a different, less advanced Sunrise Wind investment on the east coast of the USA, to which it is difficult to find business partners.
Orsted together with PGE Polish Energy Group is currently implementing the project of the largest wind farm in the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea, Baltica 2. The project will consist of 107 turbines with a power of 14 MW each, located on an area of about 190 km. Denmark and the USA from the return of Trump to the White House in January remain in the best diplomatic relations. The US President announced the need to be annexed to Denmark Greenland several times.
