“The fries will be better than McDonald's.” Advice from an expert

Ukrainian culinary specialist of Colombian origin Hector Jimenez-Bravo explained on Instagram how to cook delicious French fries.

“99% of people cook French fries incorrectly. And then they wonder why they turn out soft, greasy and not crispy at all. In fact, the secret is very simple – proper preparation. A few small steps – and you will have French fries better than McDonald's,” assured Jimenez-Bravo.

Ingredients:

  • potatoes – 5–6 pcs.;
  • salt – to taste;
  • corn starch – 2-3 tbsp. l.;
  • vegetable oil for frying.

Ingredients for the sauce:

  • one egg;
  • lemon juice – 1 tsp;
  • salt – to taste;
  • black pepper, paprika – to taste;
  • olive oil – 80–100 ml;
  • greens to taste;
  • one small onion.

Preparation

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into equal pieces.
  2. Salt the water and bring to a boil. Place the potatoes in boiling water and cook for about three minutes.
  3. Place the potatoes in a bowl with very cold water and ice cubes to stop the cooking process.
  4. Remove the potatoes and dry well on a paper towel.
  5. Transfer to a bowl, add cornstarch and toss until each piece is coated thinly.
  6. Place the potatoes in a single layer on a board or tray and place in the freezer for 50-60 minutes.
  7. Fry frozen potatoes in plenty of hot vegetable oil until golden brown.
  8. Place the finished potatoes in a bowl, add salt (you can add other spices) and shake well.
  9. For the sauce, beat the egg, lemon juice, salt, pepper and olive oil in a blender.
  10. Add chopped herbs, paprika and finely chopped onion, stir.
