The president of the Non -governmental organization Expert Forum, Sorin Ioniță, drew attention to a problem faced by the great urban agglomerations in our country, talking especially about the situation of Bucharest, which “has the smallest territory between the metropolises in the region with over 1 million inhabitants”.
At the Film Festival and Histories Râşnov, Sorin Ioniță said that the great municipalities of Romania “have a territorial constraint”, an aspect that “creates problems”.
“The city of Budapest, in its administrative contour, is 2.3 times larger than the area than the municipality of Bucharest, although the population is somewhat equal, even a little larger in Bucharest (…). These are all the Romanian municipalities, which have a territorial constraint, they are very limited spatially and this is a problem (…). Metropolitan areas, because we are unique in the region and in Europe, ”said the president of the Expert Forum.
According to the expert in public policies, Bucharest has 8,000 inhabitants per square kilometer, more than cities like Vienna, Belgrade, Budapest, Warsaw, Prague, Sofia, Zagreb, Bratislava, even if they have larger areas.
“The Romanian Municipalities, Bucharest, Cluj, Iași, ends immediately after the blocks, where the corn begins, there is the administrative limit, and this creates problems”, warned Sorin Ioniță.
“The five aberrations in Bucharest”
Expert forum president criticized the “five aberrations” in the capital area, “that you have municipalities, even urban type, declared cities, which are attached to Bucharest”.
“Basically you do not make the difference when you pass from Sector 4 in Popești-Leordeni,” said Sorin Ioniță, who also listed Pantelimon, Voluntari, Chiajna and Bragadiru.
He argues that this situation generates problems related to transport policies, which “are difficult to coordinate” in such a system, environmental policies, as well as development policy, “the most painful problem”.
