Gold announces a BEC decision: USR cannot carry any kind of election campaign in favor of Nicușor Dan / first reaction of the mayor
The party led by George Simion announced on Saturday afternoon that the Central Electoral Bureau admitted a referral of the political formation regarding the election campaign carried out by the USR in favor of the independent candidate Nicușor Dan. Until this time, BEC did not transmit official information, reasoning that he is still in the meeting.
“I can believe that the Central Electoral Bureau can give a disposition on a party who has a candiator, but cannot prohibit to an individual, to a person who is a party member to do any political activity, in this way I understand things,” said Nicușor Dan in his first reaction.
“But if I want to assume the public messages that the USR Braila president gives, say, or USR Iași and communicate this, obviously that the USR Braila president can campaign for me,” the independent candidate continued.

The Bec confirms what gold has argued: a political party cannot campaign for another candidate than the one, which is the one, Lasconi ”, said the formation led by George Simion, a candidate for the presidential elections.
Contacted by HotNews.ro, the BEC's spokesman, Mircea Preotescu, said he would be able to send the BEC decision after the meeting, still in progress.
HotNews.ro also called for a reaction from the USR leader and spokesman, Ionuț Moșteanu, one of those who decided to support Nicușor Dan. He transmitted that for the moment he is waiting for the BEC decision.
The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) greet the decision of the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), considering it “a victory of the rule of law and the democratic principles that must govern any electoral process”.

In a statement sent to the press, gold criticizes USR actions, considering that “abandoning their own candidate and redirecting campaign resources to Nicușor Dan is a flagrant violation of electoral legislation”.
“After the final stay of the candidates, as happened in the case of Mrs. Lasconi, there is no legal mechanism that allows a party to abandon the candidate and continue the campaign for someone else,” the golden representatives said.
The political formation points out that the notification of the permanent electoral authority, ordered by the bulb, “demonstrates the severity of the violations committed” by the USR.
“This approach confirms that it was not a simple question of interpretation of the law, but about a deliberate and systematic violation of the norms that regulate the financing and organization of the election campaigns,” the gold representatives say.
The party led by George Simion states that it will continue to fight for “respecting the law and eliminating any forms of censorship or manipulation in the electoral process.”
“We believe that voters have the right to a transparent and correct electoral process, in which each party supports their own candidate, without resorting to strategies for abandoning and redirecting resources to other competitors, strategies that distort the essence of democratic competition,” says gold.
Finally, the party calls on all the electoral competitors “to carry out their campaigns with the strict respect of the legal framework in force”, stressing that “only by respect for the law we can build an authentic and functional democracy in Romania”.

At the Friday meeting of the National Bureau, USR leaders have developed several technical details concerning the support of Nicușor Dan in the race for the presidential elections in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, instead of the party president, Elena Lasconi.
The USR spokesman Ionuț Moșteanu said that a meeting is followed with Nicușor Dan's campaign team to “integrate the teams operationally, to help him win”.
On April 10, an announcement was published on the USR account, stating that the formation supports Nicușor Dan, without crossing the financial agent code.
After deciding to withdraw the political support of Elena Lasconi, USR said she would support Nicușor Dan's campaign. On Saturday, in a press conference, the independent candidate was asked how the USR campaign for him does.
“As the PMP do, the strength of the right, right, PNț Maniu Mihalache and citizens and parties that support me (…).
Asked if, for example, the USR will be able to promote it on social networks, Nicușor Dan said that “this is exactly the discussion”, because, although the campaign started a week, this was not clarified by the authorities.
“In my opinion, anyone who does not pay can be able to post a support in one way or another. After the recent bulb interpretations it seems that the simple party members should not do anything, they are not political actors, but that the known leaders of the parties should be assumed by the candidate,” Nicușor Dan said.
He added that he could be promoted on the official pages of the USR when BEC will be informed by Nicușor Dan that he assumes this support.
So far, USR spent for the campaign of Elena Lasconi about 200,000 euros. This amount comes from the subsidy granted to the party, the ordinary operating money of the party, which were managed by the financial agent in accordance with the legal provisions, according to the USR.
For the amounts spent so far in the election campaign, as stipulated in the law, the USR will not request the settlement, regardless of the result that he will obtain in elections Elena Lasconi.
