Weather forecast on Friday, August 22. Yellow code of heat in Bucharest and seven counties, torrential rains and vigils in the rest of the country

The capital and the counties of Giurgiu, Ilfov, Călărași, Ialomița, Brăila, Galați and Partial Constanța remain on Friday, August 22, under the yellow code of heat, according to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM). In these areas, the maximum temperatures will climb between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius, and the thermal discomfort will be high.

ANM announces that the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will reach the critical threshold of 80 units in the mentioned regions.
In contrast, in the west, the center and the north of the country, the weather cools considerably. Abundant rains are forecast, with accumulations of 40–50 l/sqm, accompanied by torrential showers, vines and hail.
In Dobrogea and Bărăgan, the heat can persist up to 38 degrees Celsius, but in the afternoon rain and wind intensifications are expected. In the south of Moldova and northern Muntenia, temperatures reach 37 degrees, but severe weather phenomena are expected.
Northern Moldova, Bucovina, Transylvania, Maramureșul and western Romania will be dominated by atmospheric instability, with thunder, lightning, strong wind and precipitation that can exceed locally 35–50 l/sqm. The maximums will be lower, between 22 and 28 degrees.
In Oltenia, the temperatures remain bearable, up to 30 degrees, but the rains will be present mostly of the region. The south of the country has a hot day, followed by precipitation in the second part of the day.
