Tax experiment for young people. 100,000 people in the lottery

The project assumes that if a drawn person earns income, his tax will be reduced by up to 27.5 thousand. crowns (about PLN 10,000). Selected participants will be monitored by the administration for 3-5 years to assess the impact of the program on professional activity and the burden of the social care system.
“This is probably the largest experiment of this scale in the world” – assessed Simen Markussen, director of the Frisch Center, which collaborated with the Ministry of Finance in the preparation of the program.
The project does not convince the opposition
The project caused mixed reactions among opposition parties towards the Central Policy Labor Party. Conservatives reminded that they reported a similar idea four years ago, but was rejected. In turn, the liberal Venstre recognized the lottery as “unfair” and postulated to take over the program of all young people in a given age group. Surprisingly, the proposal was supported by the right -wing party of progress – its spokesperson for economic affairs, Hans Andreas Limi, emphasized that “work should be more profitable than being on benefit.”
The final shape of the tax lottery will be known in the budget for 2026, which will be presented to the Parliament in October.
