“From January 1, 2026, excise stakes for ethyl alcohol, beer, wine, fermented drinks and indirect products by 15 percent in relation to rates of 2025 from January 1, 2027 will increase the excise duties on these products, – informs the Ministry of Finance in a statement.
The ministry informs that his actions are Reaction to “the need to counteract the harmful influence of alcohol on the health of Poles”.
Alcohol is not the only product for which we will soon pay more. MF also announced that raising the sugar fee. It is also for the sake of citizens.
“The reduction of the economic availability of sweetened drinks is associated with an increasing problem of obesity and spending more funds on healthcare in this area” – the Ministry of Finance explains the increase.
How much more will we pay for alcohol? Estimates of the industry
Emilia Rabenda, president of the Polish Employers Association, the Spiritus Industry, estimates that the increase in excise duty by 15 percent. It would mean an increase in the price of a bottle of vodka 40 % by PLN 4.

“The purpose of the excise duty increasing alcoholic beverages is to adapt its rates to the growing purchasing power, and thus limit their consumption,” said Deputy Minister of Finance Jarosław Neneman.
The deputy minister added that this means that In 2026, the increase will be higher by 10 percentage points than it results from the so -called road map – i.e. changes in the rate in the excise duty on alcoholic beverages, planned for 2027, according to which the rate would increase by 5 percent. In turn, in 2027 the increase will be higher by 5 points. percent (in 2027 it was also to amount to 5 percent).
“To counteract the epidemic of obesity, with which about 2/3 of Poles struggle, we also update the rates of sugar fee” – added the deputy minister.
Currently, the sugar fee consists of two parts – a fixed one, which is PLN 0.5 for the sugar content in an amount equal to or less than 5 GW 100 ml of the drink or for the content (in any amount) of at least one sweetener, and variable, which is PLN 0.05 for each gram of sugars above 5 GW 100 ml drink. In addition, drinks with caffeine or taurine are covered by an additional fee of PLN 0.1 per liter of drink. The fee cannot amount to more than PLN 1.2 per 1 liter of drink.
– The fixed fee will increase from next year from PLN 0.5 to PLN 0.7, the variable fee – for each gram of sugar above 5 groszy in 100 million drink – it will increase from PLN 0.05 to PLN 0.1, and in the case of drinks with the addition of caffeine or taurine, the fee increases from PLN 0.1 to PLN 1 – said Neneman. – In addition, the sugar fee limit is raised from PLN 1.2 to PLN 1.8 per liter of a drink – explained the minister.
