The agreement was concluded between the Pomerania Development Agency and the Gdańsk Economic Development Agency (InvestGDA) and the Polish-Dutch consortium A2P2 architecture & planning from Gdańsk and KCAP BV from Rotterdam. InvestGDA announced its signing in a press release.

The document will concern the spatial development of the entire railway corridor. 18 months are planned for its preparation.

The Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, quoted in the announcement, stated that the signing of the contract for the Gdańsk Nowe Południe masterplan is a historic step in the city's development, resulting from the strong partnership of the Pomeranian Voivodeship government, the City of Gdańsk and the design team selected in the competition.

“We want the development of the new generation Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway to mean not only the construction of a railway line, but also the creation of vibrant service and economic activity centers around the stops, which will change the face of the southern districts of Gdańsk and neighboring communes,” she said.

She added that this is an investment in new mobility, giving residents a real choice and a convenient alternative in everyday travel, and at the same time an impulse for local entrepreneurs.

The Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, assured that PKM Południe will not end on the tracks, but will become an impulse to build a dense, well-organized city with services and social infrastructure within a short walk. “This investment will be a real gateway to the metropolis for the inhabitants of the southwestern part of the region, offering them great convenience and real time savings. We are implementing the project according to schedule – we plan a ready construction project in 2027, construction start in 2028, and the first trains are scheduled to run in 2030,” he said.

The announcement states that the document will define the principles of space development in a functional and sustainable manner, so that housing development, public services, common spaces and the transport system are created as a coherent whole and not as a sum of unrelated decisions.

The process of preparing the masterplan was divided into three stages. First will include a diagnosis of the current situation of Gdańsk Południe and an analysis of the conditions of the planned PKM Południe line, along with the identification of development scenarios and needs in the field of public services, greenery and the transport system.

IN the second At this stage, urban concepts for areas in the vicinity of stops will be created, including the layout of functions, principles of space shaping and pedestrian, bicycle and transport connections.

Third The next stage is to prepare more detailed designs of public spaces – streets, squares and parks – in selected locations.

Tender for the implementation of the so-called The masterplan for the Gdańsk Nowe Południe project was announced jointly by the Pomerania Development Agency and InvestGDA in September. Three offers were received in the proceedings on time. Ultimately, it was decided to choose the Polish-Dutch consortium A2P2 architecture & planning (Gdańsk) and KCAP BV (Rotterdam), which valued the project at PLN 2.6 million (net).

An over 7-kilometer section of PKM Południe will be run from Gdańsk Śródmieście to Kowal, with several new passenger stops. According to the plan, it is to be built by 2030 (PAP)
