President Volodimir Zelenski has announced that Ukraine has tested a long-range cruise missile, known as Flamingo, developed internally, which can hit 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles) away and said that production in series could start during the winter, the AFP, The AFP, the AFP.

“The rocket has been successfully tested. Currently, it is our best performing rocket – it can fly 3,000 kilometers, which is significant,” he said during a meeting with journalists, which took place on Wednesday, August 20.

He added that Ukraine is expected to have more missiles until December this year, the production in series being scheduled to start until February 2026.

Holding his own long -range missiles could radically change the situation of Ukraine in his efforts to undermine, behind the enemy lines, the Russia's war machine, notes the quoted Kiev publication.

“Until December, we will have more. And by the end of December or January-February, the production in series should begin,” said the Ukrainian president.

The Ukrainian company Fire Point leads the development of the Flamingo rocket. Irina Terekh, the head of the company's production, told The Associated Press (AP), in an article published on Thursday, that a flamingo rocket is currently producing with plans to increase production to seven to October.

The Flamingo rocket was publicly revealed for the first time on August 17, when photojournalist Efrem Lukatsky from (AP) published a photo of it. Subsequently, video images were published inside the production factory.

Long -range weapons produced internally are of crucial importance to Ukraine's defense strategy, as Western partners have delayed the delivery of appropriate armament in the context of intensifying the Russian attacks and offensive. Some long -range weapons have been provided with Ukraine with restrictions on their use on Russian territory.

In November 2024, Zelenski announced that Ukraine had produced the first 100 missiles.

Since then, Ukraine has continued to increase domestic production. Zelenski said on April 16 that over 40% of the weapons used on the front line are now produced in Ukraine, including over 95% of the drones used on the battlefield.

In June, the Ukrainian press wrote that the Sapsan short -ray ballistic missile, also produced internally, successfully passed the fighting tests and is in series production.

Zelenski previously revealed that Ukraine has developed another internal weapon, Paliaytsia hybrid rocket.
