The Romanian firefighters will act in the Galicia region, in the northwest of Spain.

“The 51 Romanian firefighters, who are part of the specialized module in extinguishing the forest firesthey took off this morning, at 06:00, on the basis of 90 Otopeni air transport “Aviator commander Gheorghe Bănciulescu”, to go on mission to the Kingdom of Spain.

The transport of the intervention team is carried out with the support of the Ministry of National Defense, by air, with a C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Romanian Air Force. Romanian firefighters will act in the Galicia region, near Ourense province”, DSU reports.

DSU adds that they have responded to Spain's requests and other states such as France, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Romanian firefighters will act in Galicia along with a similar team in Finland.

“As a result of the numerous vegetation fires affecting the Spanish territory, the civil protection mechanism of the European Union was activated. Thus, they responded promptly to the request for assistance from Spain, specialized teams from several states, such as France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The Romanian intervention module will act in the Galicia region, along with a similar team in Finland. This mobilization demonstrates, once again, European solidarity and the ability to respond rapidly in the face of disasters. Easy mission, dear colleagues and go back home! ”, concludes DSU.
