Brașov took a decisive step for the construction of the metropolitan train. What are the three proposed routes

After several years in which the project of the metropolitan train of the city of Brasov encountered difficulties, on August 20, the contract for the elaboration of the feasibility study was signed. The project should be ready in 2029, and the trains will also reach Sfântu Gheorghe, Râșnov and at Ghimbav airport, writes the publication Buni Day Brașov.

The three routes

  1. TM1 Halta Stupini – stop point (PO) N. Labiş (proposed) – PO Tractor (proposed, intermodal knot connected to several metropolitan train lines) – Brasov station;
  2. TM2 Codlea – PO Park Industrial Ghimbav (proposed) – PO POPROPORI INTERNATIONAL Brasov – GHimbav (proposed) – GHimbav – PO VGP – Bartolomeu Station – PO Tractor (proposed) – PO TRIJ (proposed) – Hărman (possibly new) – PAR INDUSTRIAL INDUMER (proposal) – Ilieni – Prejmer – Chichiş – Ozun – Ozun Gheorghe;
  3. TM3 Zărneşti Gara – General Traian Moşoiu – Halta Tohananu Vechi – Halta Romacril (Râşnov HC) – Râşnov Gara – Po Cristian Center (proposed) – PO Ina Schaeffler (proposal) – PO Braşovia (proposed) – Bartolomeu – PO Tractor (proposal) – PO PO Zinov (PO) (proposed) – Dârste station.

The contract for the feasibility study has been signed, the following stages consist of obtaining European money, then in implementing the project.

The mayor of Brasov, George Scripcaru, signed with the president of the Brasov County Council, Adrian Veştea, the partnership agreement for the preparation and implementation of the project.

The service contract was awarded to the association TTL Planning (Lider) – Metrans Engineering – Bomap Engineering, for the value of 6,213,750 lei plus VAT. The duration of the contract is 12 months, of which 6 months for the elaboration of the feasibility study and the other documentation necessary to submit the application for the non -reimbursable European funds. The maximum financing that can be requested for this project amounts to 238,000,000 euros, and the implementation must be concluded in 2029.

This project is proposed to introduce a railway transport in the metropolitan area (the three metropolitan lines) and the one in its vicinity, on three railways. Also, a series of investments in the railway infrastructure is to be made, the most important of them being the railway connection with the Brasov – Ghimbav International Airport.
