The Competition Council has expressed its principle agreement that retailer Annabella SRL to buy the 87 stores that Mega Image has committed to assign in order to complete Profi Rom Food SRL.

Previously, the Competition Council authorized the transaction by which Delhaize “The Lion” Nederland BV (Mega Image) took over Profi Rom Food SRL with conditions regarding both the relationship with the suppliers and the operation of the local market retail, predominantly food.

Thus, Mega Image has committed to transfer 87 stores from 44 localities in which the activities of the two companies overlap and could lead to reducing the possibilities of consumers' choice.

Annabella will arrive in several cities in Romania

Mega Image presented to the competition authority the proposal for Annabella SRL to buy the 87 stores, including all the assets and staff that are necessary to ensure the viability and competitiveness of the respective stores, in particular: the commercial space, the equipment, the staff, the clientele and the commercial ford.

“Through this acquisition, Annabella will enter the markets where she has not been present so far, such as Cluj, Bihor, Timiș, Bacău, Vrancea or Constanța, becoming a new competitor on the retail market. As a result, we have given the principle agreement, and the final approval will be done by authorizing the transaction,” said Bogdan Chiriiuiu.

Annabella SRL is a Romanian capital trader, operating 118 stores in Argeș, Brașov, Dâmbovița, Giurgiu, Ialomița, Olt and Vâlcea counties.
