On Tuesday, the Norwegian aviation office issued warnings for pilots flying in the airspace belonging to the Norway of the Archipelago. GPS guide and location systems are to be disturbed from the beginning of July. The services have not been able to determine the source of interference so far.

Serious disturbances in the operation of the navigation apparatus were found on July 8. They were to consist in falsifying the readings of GPS receivers and the administration of improper location data.
LuftfartStilsynet, the Air Supervision Office in Norway, issued notam warnings for the Svalbard area. It is published when flights over a given area can be exposed to navigation difficulties or are associated with particular risk.
Using false data during the start or landing can be particularly dangerous for passenger aircraft supporting regular connections between Svalbard and Oslo and Tromsoe. It can also be an additional risk for medical flights between the archipelago and the nearest hospital nearly 1000 km away.
The “Barents Observer” website on Tuesday pointed out that Russian electronic combat techniques, such as jamming and falsification of readings, were particularly intensified over Svalbard after starting the full -scale aggression of Russia to Ukraine. The Norwegian Communications Office was unable to determine the sources of current interference. The nearest Russian air base is located 700 km from the Norwegian islands.
