Zelanski in Washington will not be alone. Several EU leaders and NATO boss will join him

The chairwoman of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday at a press conference in Brussels with the participation of the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelanski that the EU would support Ukraine as long as it is necessary, for just and lasting peace.
Von der Leyen determined what the agreement should look like on the end of the war in Ukraine.
She was the first condition to mention security guarantees protecting both Ukraine and Europe. According to the head of the EC, Ukraine must be able to maintain its territorial sovereignty.
“International borders cannot be changed by force,” she emphasized.
She stated that there could be no restrictions for the Ukrainian armed forces or external help.
“As I have often repeated, Ukraine must become a steel charger, indigestible to potential invaders,” she added.
The head of the EC with satisfaction accepted the readiness of US President Donald Trump regarding the offer of Ukraine's security guarantee modeled on Article 5 of the North Stlanty Treaty. Article 5 is a NATO principle that provides that members of the organization will help armed ally, which will be attacked.
The European Union is “ready to do what belongs to it” – declared von der Leyen.
In her opinion, first of all, the defense needs of the EU Member States should be met. During the conference, she announced that in the coming weeks she would visit those countries closest to the first line of the front.
Von der Leyen confirmed that the EU still supports Ukraine's pursuit of membership in the European Union, which in her opinion is a kind of security guarantee.
She also announced that as long as the bloodshed in Ukraine, the European Union will continue economic sanctions and exert diplomatic pressure on Russia.
President Zelanski said that the current lines of the front in the war with Russia should be the basis for peace conversations. He added that no signs can be seen so that Russia would be ready for a three -sided peak with the USA and Ukraine.
According to Zelanski, “territorial issue” should be discussed only between Ukraine and Russia, but with US mediation. According to him, Russian leader Vladimir Putin “has many demands, but not all are known.”
Russia's “Strategic Direction” is “anti -European”, which is why we must limit Moscow's “potential” – said the president.
Zelanski said he had been talking to von der Leyen about the issue of defense before. He thanked her, among others for the introduction of the last round of European sanctions against Russia. “Sanctions show that we take the matter seriously,” he added.
The President of Ukraine came to Brussels on Sunday, where, together with the head of the EC, he participates in the video conference of countries forming the so -called Coalition of volunteers. Opening the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that you should “keep pressure” at Vladimir Putin. On Monday, Zelanski together with several European leaders will go to Washington, where he will talk to US President Donald Trump.
