The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, reacted after the meeting between the US President and Vladimir Putin. This emphasizes in an X post, that Romania remains employed for the stability of the region and that the Alaska dialogue was a first step towards unlocking the negotiations.

Romania transmitted the first official reaction after the meeting between the US and Russia presidents, emphasizing the importance of international dialogue and transatlantic and European involvement for the stability of the region.

“The Alaska dialogue was a first step towards unlocking the negotiations and we welcome President Trump's invitation for a meeting with President Zelenski to Washington,” wrote the head of diplomacy in Bucharest.

Romania reaffirms, at the same time, that the transatlantic unity and European solidarity are fundamental for the construction of a future in which peace and sustainable security will ensure the prosperity of the region.

“The new developments of international peace dialogue in Ukraine are positive and the involvement of the US, together with the perspective and European actions, can be decisive for obtaining and especially maintaining peace.

We remain convinced that through transatlantic unity and European solidarity we can rebuild a future in which peace and sustainable security is the basis of prosperity in the region ” Oana Țoiu wrote on X.

The official reaction in Bucharest comes at a time when the dialogue between the US, Russia and Ukraine intensifies, and the future meetings, including that between Presidents Trump, Putin and Zelenski, could significantly influence the peace prospects in the region.

“Romania is and will continue to be an active part of this joint effort for peace and economic growth, the stability and security of the Black Sea region are essential” The Romanian Foreign Minister ended the post.
