The crime in Mureș: Anda was disfigured in a beating in February 2024, then abducted in February 2025, and the “mobile team” came in June 2025 to ask what she is doing. “The failures of the authorities”

Emil Gânj, a crime suspect on a woman, is sought by the Romanian Police, without a result, after a month, after being searched for another year. But this is not the only failure of how the state has been related to Anda Gyurcă, “a drop” in the sea of violence against women. Andei's case reflects the way in which several institutions in Romania work.
In February 2024, Anda Gyurcă was “disfigured” by Emil Gânj and obtained a protection order, but the police and social assistance in the commune did not announce DGASPC Mureș about violence. “It was not necessary,” says the mayor of Miheșu de Câmpie, for the Snoop investigative site, who continued to document what is happening in this case that revolted Romania.
Snoop reveals on Thursday that only in June 2025, four months after she had been beaten again, a multidisciplinary team was sent home to Anda Gyurcă and what happened later.
Andreea Braga: “They do not trust the authorities that they can protect them”
The delay of the authorities did not help to create a reliable relationship. The young woman refused to go to a shelter dedicated to victims of domestic violence due to the fear of reprisals on her family from the aggressor. “She was afraid that she would kill us,” her mother tells for Snoop.
Most victims who do not resort to state services “do not trust the authorities that they can protect them,” explains Andreea Braga from the Filia center.
“Normalization of violence is our biggest enemy,” says Elena Micheu of the Eastern European Institute for Reproduction Health.
What do healthy life expectancy look like in women in Romania
Violes, excessive domestic work and, in general, the living conditions of women in Romania are topics that are rarely discussed in society. Romania is one of the few countries in Europe where there is a special demographic phenomenon.
In general, all over the world, women have a greater life expectancy than men. This is also true in Romania: women have a life expectancy of 80.4 years, and men of 72.6, according to Eurostat statistics.
But in terms of healthy life expectancy, that is, an existence without suffering that seriously limits life and activity, the situation changes. The healthy life expectancy of a 65 -year -old Romanian man is 4.3 years old, while a woman is only 3.8 years old.
So little it is expected that a Romanian or a Romanian can live healthy, once they have reached the age of 65, according to Eurostat data.
Violets of 2024: From jealousy
In the case of the crime in Mureș, the young woman killed on July 8 did not want to move home in a shelter for the victims of domestic violence because she was afraid that Emil Gânj, the man who beat her and finally killed her, will avenge her family.
“He threatened her that if she finds it, she will avenge us,” says Andei's mother, Pușa Jimba, in a phone conversation with the Snoop reporter.
The violence on Andea began in February 2024, when the man “disfigured her”, “jealousy,” says her mother who then called the police.
“(…) He hit the injured person in the head area, and after the blow he fell and remained unconscious. Shortly he returned, he felt his concubine hit her fists in the body area and squeezed it with both hands of his neck, threatening her at the same time.” – Luduș Court Decision
Andei's mother: The community sheltered the aggressor
“He got into a neighbor's house and stayed in the bridge,” says the girl's mother.
Since then, Emil Gânj has been in general pursuit and has not been caught until today. “The police passed to the hill, down the valley, when on one street, when on the other,” says the woman. “It was helped by the neighbors, he stayed here,” she believes.
In February 2024, Anda obtained an order of protection against the man, who was revoked in March, at her request. Pușa Jimba claims that her daughter was then influenced by Emil Gânj's sister, “she is bitter”, “that she will do prison”. “I do not know what they promised, what they did, to go crazy” to withdraw all against him.
“She beat her at home, at home, she beat her countless times; she was when she told us and when she didn't tell us,” her mother tells.
Asked by Snoop why her case was not highlighted since last year, the mayor of the commune, Emil Cașoni, replied that “it was not necessary”. Then he closed the phone. Continuation of the article on snoop.
