Kelemen Hunor, about the future government: “It will not have a long life.” What he says is that he discussed, the second day in a row, with Sorin Grindeanu

The UDMR leader believes that the future prime minister, whoever he is, will have “a short life” and that he will not stay at the Victoria Palace for two and a half years, until the next parliamentary elections. Kelemen Hunor says that he continues to believe that the best option is the reunification of the old coalition formed by PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the National Minorities.
Kelemen Hunor spoke again, on Tuesday, with Sorin Grindeanu, in the PSD leader's office at the Chamber of Deputies:
“We continued yesterday's talks. We didn't discuss anything other than the political crisis. I said that I still believe that the best option, the first option, is to restore the coalition with an independent, non-independent prime minister, acceptable to everyone,” said Kelemen at the end of the discussion.
The recruitment of parliamentarians, “a serious disease”
The UDMR leader has positioned himself this way since the beginning of the crisis. “Until we try, I can't say it can't be done,” he added.
Kelemen further rules out that the UDMR will be part of a government with the anti-Western parties, as Nicușor Dan calls them. Asked about the parliamentarians who could be brought into the PSD or PNL to gather votes for a future government, Kelemen Hunor said that “recruitments are a bad disease”: “With these recrudescences… it's a very bad, chronic disease. For now, I'm going with the version of the Government that was in place until now. Until we try, I can't say it's not possible. It's not a scenario for 2 and a half years, it's a scenario to overcome this crisis.”
In the opinion of the UDMR leader, the future Executive will not have a long life:
“I think we can all agree that the next government will not have a long life, two and a half years. It will have a life of 8, 9, 10 months. We have to pass the PNRR, SAFE, keep the deficit at the assumed target.”
“There is never an empty chair”
Asked if he believes that the prime minister will practically have to sacrifice himself for a year, Kelemen Hunor answered: “absolutely”.
“There was never an empty seat,” he added, referring to the fact that a prime minister will be found, even if it will be a sacrificial one.
Kelemen Hunor also said that he also has discussions with Ilie Bolojan, not only with Sorin Grindeanu:
“Last week, I met with Mr. Bolojan. I will try to meet with Mr. Bolojan today, tomorrow. I don't know the agenda. I didn't like that this government was brought down, but this is the democratic game.”
President Nicușor Dan announced on Tuesday that he will start the official consultations for the formation of a Government with the parliamentary parties “on Thursday or Monday”.
“The request I will have with all the party delegations with whom we will meet, for any of the government proposals, my question will be whether or not they have negotiated a majority,” Nicușor Dan emphasized.
