The section of Floreasca where Lavinia was admitted will lose its status as the center of burns, announces the Minister of Health. The results of the controls are “criminal nature”

The burning section of the Floreasca Emergency Hospital in Bucharest will lose its center of burns, announced, on Tuesday, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, at the end of the control that checked the way in which the center was authorized, in 2022, in the mandate of the former Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila.

Rogobete also says that, following the last control that he sent to verify the authorization of the Center of Arms, “the results are criminal and I will notify the Prosecutor's Office”.

Only patients with medium intensity burns

“We will re -instruct the Center for the Arcii Center, which will become a functional unit for Arcii and will lose its status as the center of Arci,” announced on Tuesday Alexandru Rogobete, at the end of a meeting with the manager of Floreasca Hospital and with the representatives of the Public Health Directorate.

“In the discussion with the current manager, who has purchased services for technical approval and design in order to recompose the center of Arși, from 6 salons for critical patients will be reduced to 4, to create the necessary space for all the equipment provided by the norm, including a complete ventilation system,” added Rogobete.

Functional units for burns can only treat patients with medium intensity burns.

The section of Floreasca Hospital was the only one in Romania authorized as a center for the treatment of the great burns. At the time of authorization, in 2022, doctors and survivors of the fire in the Collective club accused the fact that the hospital structure in Floreasca does not comply with the standards necessary for a large burning center, and the authorization was “from PIX”.

The fact that Romania will no longer have any large burns will make it possible, from the point of view of the legislation, and the transfer of patients with serious burns to hospitals abroad.

The minister notifies the Prosecutor's Office

The Minister of Health says that he will send to the Prosecutor's Office the reports of all 3 controls ordered at Floreasca Hospital: “In short, the report of the Control Body, together with the State Inspectorate Report and the control executed by DSP this week, will be sent by the Ministry of Health to the Prosecutor's Office and we will start the legal nature”.

Alexandru Rogobete speaks of “Results of a criminal nature”, according to the controls sent to Floreasca: “Following the last control to verify the authorization of the Center of Arși, the results are of a criminal nature and I will notify the Prosecutor's Ventilation, although in the technical memory made by the hospital and the former manager he wrote.

The minister added that “the spaces do not comply with the norm and are not appropriate according to the standards for a burning center – which is confirmed by the former manager and reconfirmed by the DSP at the time of issuing the opinion.”

Floreasca Hospital manager stays in office

The manager of Floreasca Hospital remains in office, says Alexandru Rogobete. “The control bodies in justice, if they start an investigation, will send us the accusations and I will react according to them,” says the minister about the manager.

Regarding the leadership of DSP Bucharest, which played an important role in the authorization of the Center of Arși from Floreasca, in 2022, Alexandru Rogobete says that he had an administrative investigation, after which “we will make a decision regarding the management”.

“The 2022 report does not correspond to what the same DSP has found last week. The current management of the hospital and the Ministry of Health have been following the control of the Control Body. We will leave the investigative bodies to explain our inconsistencies between the two reports,” says the Minister of Health.

Minister Alexandru Rogobete sent three checks to the Center of Arci at Floreasca Hospital, after finding out the case of Lavinia, the patient with burns on 70% of the body, treated here for 53 days, before being transferred to Belgium: State Sanitary Inspectorate, Control Body of the Ministry of Health and the Control Body of Public Health.

The results of the first two controls – the State Sanitary Inspection and the Control Body of the Ministry of Health – led to the dismissal of Tiberiu Paul Neagu from the position of coordinator of the Center of Arci by the hospital manager, at the beginning of last week.
