Orlen discovered new gas resources. “More than assumed”

The results of the research that allowed the discovery of new resources are the result of cooperation between the Orlen Group companies dealing in the extraction of raw materials. The seismic data analysis was carried out by Geophysics Toruń, and the search drilling was performed by Exalo Drilling.
The works carried out on the deposit of Trzebusz, as Orlen announced on Wednesday, showed 700 million cubic meters. more expensive resources of natural gas than previously assumed. “Thanks to this, the total extraction resources of natural gas in this area increased to 2.3 billion meters six.” – the concern said. At the same time, he emphasized that his actions in the Upstream segment are part of the implementation of the Orlen strategy regarding the development of domestic gas production, which is an essential fuel for energy transformation and a key raw material for industry.

Orlen plans until 2030
“In Orlen, we set a very ambitious goal – By 2030, we want to increase the annual gas extraction from domestic deposits to 4 billion cubic meters. This requires investments that are important for energy transformation, the availability of raw material relevant to many industries, as well as Poland's energy security, “said Wiesław Prugar, who is responsible for the Upstream segment on the board of the group.
According to Orlen In recent years, his own natural gas production in Poland has covered about 20 percent. domestic demand for natural gas. The concern pointed out that further investments in gas extraction strengthen energy security and support the development of local communities.
Orlen reminded that Extraction of hydrocarbons is associated with the so -called an operational fee depending on the volume of production. It is divided between municipalities – 60 percent, poviats and voivodships – 15 percent, in which the deposit and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management are located – 10 percent. As the concern assessed, “these are important revenues for local governments, supplying budgets throughout the entire period of carrier mining in their area”, which allows local authorities to plan the implementation of more social projects or investments important for residents.
