“The head of the tourist group of six people who arrived from different parts of Ukraine turned to the rescuers. As it turned out, during the route along the slopes of the Mountain of the second gendarme, in difficult weather conditions and a dense fog, a 60-year-old tourist from Kyiv broke off the snow cornis. From the injuries, the man died on the spot,” the message said.
The State Emergencies Ministry noted that the group was waiting for rescuers, because the tourists themselves could not get to the mountains who died due to the icy slopes.
“Later, specialists of two search and rescue departments reached the place of the tragedy. They transported the body of the deceased to the nearest settlement and handed it over to the police. The rest of the tourist groups decided not to continue the tourist trip, so the rescuers accompanied them to the Dragobrat Valley,” the rescuers explained.
They emphasized that “the mountains once again reminded of their unpredictability and danger.”
