The City Hall of Sector 1 announces on Tuesday that it has sent the evacuation notification for the company that managed the market 16 February and will begin the demolition of the illegal constructions in the public domain, but ensuring that the market will not be canceled in court, writes news.ro. The specifications come after the SNOOOOop investigative site reported that the market is illegally occupied by a controversial businessman, sent to court.

“The City Hall of Sector 1 firmly maintains its intention to modernize the market of February 16, but will do this in compliance with the law, ensuring that taking from the private company that managed it and its restoration will be made without the risk of being canceled in court,” the institution said in a statement.
The current administration accuses that the blocking on the market 16 February has its origin during the term of the former mayor, when the evacuation was not started, and the administration at that time did not solve the contractual situation in a timely manner.
Thus, from July 2024, the request of the company Teomod Style Trading SRL for the extension of the contract, a request submitted to the town hall on May 27, 2024, was in the court.
The representatives of the City Hall showed that the trial was concluded only on May 29, 2025, when the court rejected, by the civil sentence no. 5711, the request of Teomod Style Trading SRL to extend the contract. This means 12 months of delay in the market recovery approach.
After receiving the motivation of the judgment (June 11, 2025), the City Hall of Sector 1 put it into execution and notified on July 24, 2025 the company Teomod Style Trading SRL, requesting the issuance of the occupied space, without law, within the deadline, that is 30 days from the date of its receipt. This notification was also registered at the Office of the Judicial Executor Dobra & Căliman with the number 11119/25.07.2025.
“The City Hall will take the steps in order to take over the market administration 16 February after the expiration of the 30 -day term”
“All these steps, which aim to restore the market in the direct administration of the City Hall, were taken on the basis of a decision of the Local Council voted on January 30, 2025. After the expiration of the 30 -day term granted by notification, the City Hall 1 will take the legal steps in order to take over the market. Any action before this term would be illegal and expose the City Hall of expensive disputes ”, the source mentioned.
The City Hall of Sector 1 added that, in parallel, it acted against the illegal extensions of the market space, made by improvised constructions on the public domain.
“For their decommissioning, we requested and received three provisions of the General Mayor, the market being in an urban-protected area by the authority of the City Hall of Bucharest. Thus, by provisions no. 1415, 1416 and 1417 (issued on July 25, 2025) we obtained the legal framework to abolish the illegal constructions on Almaş Street no. of the market February 16 and the release of the public domain around it, the City Hall of Sector 1 will implement a complete modernization plan of this commercial space.
