The government on Thursday approved a decision supplementing the budget for 103 million lei for 2025 provided for the payment of the state aid to reduce the excise duty on diesel used in agriculture, increasing the amount from 500 million lei to 603 million lei, the Ministry of Agriculture announced.
This additional is necessary because, out of the initial amount of 500 million lei allocated for 2025, 435,631,425 lei were used (of which 297,054,729 lei for the rest of the quarters II and III 2024, and, respectively 138,576,696 lei for quarter IV 2024 partially). Thus, the amount available for subsequent payments was 64,368,575 lei.
The total requirement of financial resources, according to the requests of the Agency for Payment and Intervention for Agriculture (APIA), is 167,278,447 lei, including 51,153,038 lei for the full payment of the amounts related to the fourth quarter of 2024 and 116,125,408 lei for the payment of the first quarter of 2025.
The amount supplemented of 103 million lei represents the difference between this requirement of 167,278,447 lei and the existing availability of 64,368,575 lei.
For the year 2025, the current subsidy for diesel is 2,213 lei/liter and is granted as a state aid in the form of reimbursement, representing the difference between the current level of excise duties (2,317.59 lei/1,000 liters) and the reduced excise rate (104.49 lei/1,000 liters).
The ministry emphasizes that the amount of 103 million lei, with which the budget is supplemented for 2025, is constituted by the redistribution of the amounts approved by Law no.9/2025 of the state budget for 2025 and the appropriate allocation of the non -used amount of the Government Decision no. 69/2025 regarding the granting of emergency financial support for agriculture for the sheep/goat breeding sector, affected by unfavorable climatic phenomena, which had as a final payment term on June 30, 2025.
