Earthquake in the Kuril Islands with magnitude 6

The Kuril Islands, an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, which is part of the Sacharoine region in Russia, was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 6 on Saturday – the European -Ming -Ming Sejsmological Center (EMSC) informed. This is the second shock in less than a week.


Hipocenrum was at a depth of 10 km – EMSC said.
There is no information about victims or damage.
Last Sunday in the Kuril Islands there was an earthquake, which, according to the German geological research center, had a magnitude of 6.7, but according to American geological services and a system of warning against Tsunami in the Pacific (Pacific Tsunami Warning System) it was magnitude 7.
Earlier, after Wednesday's earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka, the waves of Tsunami with a height of 3-5 m hit the town of Siewiero-Kurilsk in the northern part of the Kuril Islands. At the east coast of Kamchatka, a magnitude of 8.8 took place that day, followed by several dozen secondary shocks with a magnitude dating back to 7.

It was the strongest earthquake since 1952 – Russian media passed. The portal of the American magazine “Time” said that it was the sixth registered earthquake in general. (PAP)
