Krasnoyarsk-narcologist Alexander Kurchitsky told how to survive with methanol poisoning. He shared the Soviets with the publication of sibnovosti.ru.

On the eve of Sochi, a tragic case occurred – the homemade chacha poked more than a dozen tourists, many of them died, but there are no accurate information about the number of victims. Women who sold dangerous alcohol in the local market fell under a criminal case.

Alexander Kurchitsky noted that 50 ml of methanol is already a deadly dose. In this case, it is impossible to determine its presence in the drink to taste. Suspicion should be the absence of a typical sensation of relaxation from alcohol.

Non -specific symptoms make themselves felt within 30 minutes or several hours. The doctor distinguishes the following signs of intoxication, which go on growing: mild dizziness or headache, visual impairment (“flies”, veil), severe abdominal pain and back, sharp weakness and loss of consciousness up to a coma.

In case of suspicion of methanol poisoning, it is necessary to immediately call an ambulance. Before the arrival of doctors, you can rinse the stomach, lie down (or put the patient) to one side, drink 40-50 ml of high-quality vodka, since ethyl alcohol neutralizes the effect of methanol. The latest advice can be used only when there is confidence that poisoning occurred precisely with methyl alcohol.
