Russia copies Ukrainian military technologies, especially in terms of intercepting drones, September 11, the Supreme Commander of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Sîrskîi, according to The Kyiv Independent.
“We are facing a direct race in the field of technology in which the advantage will return to those who not only modernize, but also remain in the forehead,” wrote Sîrskîi, in a message published on Facebook.
The general said that Ukraine's mission is the constant improvement of existing solutions and adopting new tactics for unmanned systems.
Kiev has been massively invested in the 2022 drone war, when the Russian invasion began, and so far, evolving from modified commercial drones to series and recognition drones.
Sîrskîi also announced on Thursday that Ukrainian drones hit more than 60,000 targets in August, the attacks and those who launch bombs being responsible for most Russian losses in terms of soldiers and military equipment.
In turn, Russia has intensified its drones attacks in the depth of the Ukrainian territory, forcing Kiev to expand their electronic war capabilities, Sîrskîi added. He said that the number of Russian drones broke through electronic countermeasures increased significantly last month.
“The analysis of the use of drones allows us to adjust the tactics quickly, to increase the efficiency and to remain in front of (Russia),” added the head of the Ukrainian army. “Our efforts to develop and extend this area give clear results,” the general said.
President Volodimir Zelenski said in June that Ukraine has the ability to produce up to 8 million drones annually, but does not have the necessary financing to reach this level.
Kiev urged his external partners to support new projects to be adapted to his growing production base.
Russia has expanded its production of Shahed type attack drones, used in almost daily attacks on Ukrainian cities. In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the intention to set up a military branch dedicated to unanswered systems (UAVs).
