In the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital, a patient with a severe form of epilepsy made a unique brain surgery. The forecast of neurosurgeons is optimistic – in the next day a woman will be able to return to normal life without painful attacks of the disease.

In the regional Ministry of Health, they said that the patient 29 years old arrived in Krasnoyarsk from Bratsk. From a severe form of epilepsy, which is not amenable to drug treatment, a young woman suffers almost his whole life – from a half year old. Due to uncontrolled attacks, the life of the patient herself and her relatives became a daily struggle. Convulsions, loss of consciousness could happen literally at any time, so the presence of a nearby nearby was constantly required.

Doctors from the neighboring region twice tried to save a woman from the disease surgically, but unsuccessfully. According to the patient’s mother, who accompanies her on a trip to Krasnoyarsk, the doctors tried to choose different combinations of drugs, but to no avail, so they often had to call an ambulance to stop the epileptic attacks of her daughter.

Another operation to the young woman was performed by a doctor of medical sciences, head of the Center for Neurosurgery named after N.I. Pirogova, Professor Andrei Zuev, who specially flew from Moscow:

“Today we have surgery with a patient with pharmacoresistant epilepsy – epilepsy, which is not treated with pills. The patient was very complicated, she was already operated on twice before us, attempts were made to remove a section of the brain that causes epilepsy, and they did not lead to proper success. Fortunately, we managed to do this without any problems, I hope that the patient will no longer have seizures, ”the professor said.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, an operation of this level of complexity was carried out for the first time. This became possible, due to the availability of the necessary equipment, the high level of development of neurosurgical and resuscitation-anesthesiological profiles in the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital.
