Germany suspends export to Israel weapons, which the army of this country could use in the Gaza Strip – Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Friday. This decision is to apply until further notice and is related to Berlin's opposition to the planned extension of the Israeli offensive in this Palestinian half -Ancient.

In a statement published on the Chancellor's website, it was reported that “the release of hostages (kidnapped by Hamas from Israel on October 7, 2023 – PAP) and negotiations on the suspension of weapons are our highest priority.”
In the opinion of Merz, the approval of the extension of the Israeli offensive is to make it difficult to achieve these goals.
On Friday morning, the office of the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the security office approved a plan to take control of the city of Gaza. Israeli forces are to direct orders to leave this region before a new offensive to about 1 million Palestinians. Before this decision was made, Netanyahu stated that Israel intends to take full control over the Gaza Strip and ultimately pass it on to unspecified civil authorities. (PAP)
