Donald Trump wants a new treaty with Russia. He mentioned Ukraine

Donald Trump did not spare bitter words against the treaty New STARTwhich expires on Thursday, February 5. This is the last nuclear arms control treaty between the United States and Russia in force. The document was signed in 2010 by the then presidents of the USA and Russia – Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev.

The treaty limited, among other things, the number of deployed nuclear warheads for each side, although it was de facto paralyzed in 2023 when Russia suspended its participation. Although New START had many flaws, it kept global security in check, of which more we write in this text.
On the day the treaty expired, US President Donald Trump spoke. He began his entry on the Truth Social website by praising the US army and appreciating his achievements. Donald Trump claimed that he had prevented nuclear wars from breaking out “around the world, including between Russia and Ukraine.”
“The United States is the most powerful country in the world. In my first term, I completely rebuilt their military, including new and many refurbished nuclear weapons. I also added a Space Force and now continue to rebuild our military at an unprecedented level. We are even adding battleships that are 100 times more powerful than those that sailed the seas during World War II – the Iowa, Missouri, Alabama and others. I have prevented the outbreak of nuclear wars throughout the world. world between Pakistan and India, Iran and Israel, and Russia and Ukraine,” writes Donald Trump on Truth Social.
In the second part of the entry, he referred to the New START treaty, which he described as a “failure to negotiate” and “grossly violated” agreement.
“Instead of extending NewSTART (a failed U.S. negotiated agreement that, apart from anything else, is in gross violation), we should task our nuclear experts with working on a new, improved and modernized treaty that will remain in force for many years to come,” it continues.
