A declared opponent of Ion Iliescu intervenes in the scandal broke out between USR and PSD after the death of the former president. “It's the great patient of the coalition”

“I did not love Iliescu. I was an opponent with him, I wrote against dozens of articles in the 1990s. I was leading magazine 22, which was the main weekly opposition magazine, and it was not a week not to shoot, so to speak,” said the political scientist and writing Stelian Tănase, who explained to the former, the public scandal broke out between the PSD and the USR on the topic of the national mourning decree.

“Iliescu leaves behind a split society, which did not reconcile with itself, a scared, frightened society, now especially because of the war and what Putin does, that threatens the mouths of the Danube, Odessa, is close to us …”, said the scrutor, in a show on B1 TV.

Stelian Tanase showed that USR, by opposing the decree of the national mourning day in the memory of Ion Iliescu, came with a “radical position, in the sense that Iliescu is a criminal and a criminal do not make national funerals”.

However, the political scientist believes that the law must be respected and agrees with the organization of state funerals.

“That he has a favorable or unfavorable opinion, that he is detected or loved, another discussion, but the respective procedures must be respected. (…) We have a law, he must be respected!”, He pointed out.

Also, Stelian Tanase believes that the PSD is the “great patient” of the current ruling coalition.

“The PSD is the great patient of the coalition, he is timorized that he does not have a direction, he is not clearly ideological what he is conservative, right, left, social-democrat, populist, and he puts the problem what will happen in a month, at Congress, who will go out the party? There they were more commented for, at the Congress, to claim that they defended the party, that I did not accept that Comrade Iliescu did not know what … So, it was a purpose to take some points for the congress, no more than that, “said the writer.

“I did not love Iliescu. I was an opponent with him, I wrote against dozens of articles in the 1990s. I was leading magazine 22, which was the main weekly opposition magazine, and it was not a week not to shoot, so to speak, because they were doing nonsense, that FSN believed that it was a unique party, and it was a good party, as it was, Netolerat, “said Stelian Tanase.

The scandal between PSD and USR

The PSD leaders decided not to attend the Wednesday meeting of the ruling coalition, because of the USR, a party of “lack of decency and humanity against the first president of Democratic Romania”, sources from the party leadership, for Hotnews announced.

Subsequently, Sorin Grindeanu announced that PSD members will boycott all the government meetings “until the USRs will show political maturity and will review their attitude.”

The message of the Social Democrats came after, on Tuesday evening, a few hours after the official announcement of Ion Iliescu's death, the USR leader announced that the party representatives will not participate in the funerals of former President Ion Iliescu.

“Out of respect for the victims of the Revolution and Mining, USR has proposed in the government meeting not to be a national mourning. We take note of the Government's decision. The USR representatives will not participate in the funeral,” said Dominic Fritz on Tuesday in a Facebook post.

On Wednesday, the former PSD minister of Defense Mihai Fifor, current parliamentarian and leader PSD Arad, attacked the current Minister of Defense, from USR, Ionuț Moșteanu, in the scandal that broke out after the USR opposed the decision to be declared a national mourning day for Ion Iliescu. Although not called it, Fifor said that the position of Moșteanu “obliges you to honor”: “Unfortunately, there are people who do not stick this honor.”

“It is difficult to bear, these days, the lack of education and common sense of some of the representatives of USR. Hard, although it is not something I already knew. However, their recent outputs exceed any limit-again they prove a little difficult to imagine, the lack of any real understanding of democracy, of the respect, of Facebook.”

On Tuesday night, the former prime minister and leader of the Social Democrats Marcel Ciolacu published, in the context of the death of Ion Iliescu, an appeal to his party colleagues asking them to ignore “all the political mijections and miseries.” He thus sent arrows to the USR, although he did not mention the name of the current PSD governance partner.

“Dear colleagues, in the memory of former President Ion Iliescu and out of respect for the bereaved family, please ignore all the political and misery! There are only painful attacks of some people who will never rise to the height of the inheritance left by the founding leader of the PSD,” Ciolacu wrote in a Facebook page.

The state funerals in honor of former President Ion Iliescu started on Wednesday morning, when the coffin was transported from the SRI Hospital “Agrippa Ionescu”, where Ion Iliescu died on Tuesday, to the Cotroceni Palace. The coffin was deposited on the catafalc in the Unirii Hall, where it will remain until Thursday, when the funeral takes place.

On Thursday, August 7, the funeral cortege will leave the Cotroceni Palace to head to the Ghencea 3 cemetery, where the military funeral ceremony will take place.

Thursday was declared a national mourning day in memory of the former president.
