In the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor, Krasnoyarsk residents were told about the useful properties of gooseberries.

In this berry, ascorbic acid is about the same as, for example, in lime or tangerine. And vitamin C is well absorbed thanks to the neighborhood with vitamins A and E, which are also in gooseberries.

The berry contains aromatic and organic acids that can:

  • slow down sugar absorption in the intestines, giving a longer feeling of satiety;
  • reduce the risk of stroke and Alzheimer's disease;
  • Reduce damage to cells caused by inflammation and oxidative stress.

In one glass (150 g) of fresh gooseberries – 6.5 – 7 g of dietary fiber. This is about 1/4 – 1/3 of the recommended daily norm.

From fresh or dried gooseberry leaves, you can make tea. Such a drink will help strengthen immunity, improve the operation of the circulatory system and the state of blood vessels, and will also have a slight diuretic effect. In addition, jam and sauces are made from the berries, use it as a filling in pies and other baking.

For people suffering from stomach ulcer or duodenum, sour gooseberries are not recommended: it can provoke an exacerbation of the disease.
