In Krasnoyarsk, a monument will appear to a man whose name is the Krasnoyarsk Interdistrict Clinical Hospital No. 20 – Joseph Berzon, Honored Doctor of the RSFSR, Honorary Citizen of the city of Krasnoyarsk and the chief physician of the GKB No. 20 from 1966 to 1998.
Over the 32 years of Joseph Berzon, the hospital turned into a huge hospital town: several specialized buildings were built, as well as a hostel and a residential building for employees, reconstruction of the reception of rest and the operational block of children's surgery. The bed fund was significantly increased, the Aquarlplace, the regional center of children's surgery and traumatology, the city proctological center, the hospital, included a maternity hospital No. 6 for humanities with cardiovascular and endocrine pathology. On his initiative, the first hospital temple in the region appeared in the hospital.
The idea of the sculptural perpetuating of the memory of Joseph Burzon belongs to Evgeny Kononov, who since December 2024 acted as the chief doctor of the 20th hospital, and was literally approved the day before. A whole creative group worked on the architectural project: a member of the Union of Architects of Russia Andrei Kasatkin, one of the best sculptors of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Andrei Murzin, as well as Alexander Arefiev and Arthur Ayrapetyan. Colleagues and relatives of the legendary doctor provided photo, video materials and memories that helped the authors in the work on a visual way.
“The authors presented the hospital’s idea to the hospital’s idea and the current results of work on the project. In the figurative perception of the monument, they tried to reflect the high professionalism of the fundamental and responsible head of the medical institution, his courage and initiative in the creation of new medical buildings and in the development of medicine in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. I must say that this project group in the past worked on monuments to Ivan Yarygin, commander Nikolai Rezanov and Dmitry Hvorostovsky, ”the regional Ministry of Health said.
The monument to Joseph Berzon is planned to be erected in the center of the hospital town – on the central alley of the hospital in front of the cardiological corps. The figure of the legendary doctor will meet all those who are in the hospital.
According to the authors, the pose reflects the ability of Joseph Burzon to listen and make a balanced decision. The notebook in the hands characterizes it as a person of far -reaching plans. The pedestal in the form of a symbol of medicine – the Red Cross – will contain brief information about the hero of the monument.
