In response to the judgment of Anita Gargas, editor -in -chief of the magazine, published a recording on the website X, in which she asked President Andrzej Duda with a request to pardon Mateusz Teski. She emphasized that in her opinion the journalist should not be punished for performing his work, which is collecting and verifying information. Gargas appealed to the president to make a “last gesture” at the end of his term and pardoned the convicted journalist.
Other journalists of right -wing media also spoke in the same recording, including the president of the Association of Polish Journalists Jolanta Hajdasz, Program Director of WPOLSCE24 Michał Adamczyk, former President of TVP Bronisław Wildstein, publicists Bartłomiej Glaczak, Cezary Gmyz, Wiktor Świetlik, Krzysztof Karnkowski, editor -in -chief of TV Republika Tomasz Sakiewicz, journalists Karol Daroros, journalists Aleksandra Fedorska and director Mariusz Pilis.
“He was convicted only because he directed questions through the spokesperson to the authorities of one of the institutions! The questions concerned some judge at rest. And it was this judge that brought the journalist a criminal trial under Art. 212 of the Penal Code ” – described in Anita Gargas and the rest of the editorial team of its magazine.
Political dimension of the case?
In his speech, Michał Adamczyk suggested that the case of Mateusz Teski is political. According to him, the current authorities are trying to limit freedom of speech and introduce censorship, and convicting a journalist for asking questions to a spokesperson is an example of this. Adamczyk emphasized that the journalistic environment appears to the president with an appeal to pardon the Teski and detain what he described as “lawlessness”.
Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor -in -chief of TV Republika, also referred to the sentence, claiming that the conviction of a journalist with the question of the question is a situation that cannot be justified even in authoritarian systems.
