Faculty of Organization and Management of the Silesian University of Technology – A good place to study

– It is very important that a modern technical university has a faculty dealing with humanities and social sciences. The Faculty of Organization and Management is 2.5 thousand. students who create a solid academic campus in Zabrze, he said prof. Marek Pawełczykrector of the Silesian University of Technology.
For three decades, the Faculty of Organization and Management has been strengthening its position as a valued research center and a good place to study. The dean is prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, doctor honoris causa of three foreign universities. The management tries to respond effectively to the expectations of the employment market, educating students in accordance with the requirements of a modern economy. Employers have found that this increases the availability of well-educated and professionally prepared staff. However, graduates can expect many job offers.
– We educate students in such fields as cognitive technologies and social media, management, logistics, project management, applied linguistics, business analytics, and production management and engineering. Thanks to the research and publications of scientists and cooperation with foreign universities, the faculty is also becoming more and more recognizable on a global scale – said prof. Aleksandra Kuzior.
Honors for authorities
During the anniversary, the “Management Leader” award was presented to authorities in scientific, social and economic life. The title was awarded in five categories. In the “Science” category, the title was awarded to the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. Ph.D. engineer Marek Pawełczyk. In the area of ”Public Administration”, three equivalent awards were granted to Kamil Żbikowski, president of Zabrze, Dr. Małgorzata Mańka-Szulik, president of Zabrze in the years 2006-2024, and Elżbieta Korecka, director of the District Labor Office in Zabrze. In the “Research Institutes” category, Jarosław Zagórowski, director of the Central Mining Institute-State Research Institute, was recognized. The Management Leader in “Gospodarka” was Dr. Marek Staszek, president of DB Cargo Polska SA, and Jerzy Kulawik, vice-president of DOM100.eu. Tadeusz Donocik, founder and honorary president of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Katowice, was recognized in the “Economic self-government” category.
– The title of “Management Leader” established in the year of the 30th anniversary of the faculty emphasizes the skills, effectiveness and personal authority of the distinguished students. Appreciates outstanding personalities who effectively achieve their goals. A leader is a person who inspires, motivates and shows how to achieve success. Regardless of the field of professional activity, they are always people endowed with charisma and respected – noted prof. Aleksandra Kuzior.
Not just science
The Faculty undertakes initiatives to enrich the study program. These include, initiated by prof. Aleksandra Kuzior, a series of open lectures “Faces of business, science and politics. Management in theory and practice.” It provides students with direct contact with people who are renowned in their industries. It is an original forum for the exchange of views and discussions with, among others, Grzegorz Lot, president of “Tauron Polska Energia”, prof. Marek Gzik, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, and MEP Borys Budka.
The anniversary celebration was also accompanied by a scientific conference entitled “Theory and practice of organization management – Strategies of the future.” It was attended by scientists from all over the country, representing, among others: Committee of Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The celebrations were held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, the Mayor of Zabrze, and His Magnificence the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology. The honorary patronage of the anniversary was also provided by the Katowice Special Economic Zone and the Committee for Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
