The US Army announced on Friday that it has managed to kill an important leader of the Islamic State (SI), following an operation in the area of Syrian Alep, reports AFP and EFE agencies, according to AGERPRES.
The operation led to “the death of the leader and Dhia Zawbaa Mossleh al-Hardani and one of his adult sons”, who was also part of the jihadist group, the US military command (Centcom) announced.
These individuals “represented a threat to the US, for the anti-Jihadist coalition, as well as for the new Syrian government,” adds the US Command.
For several years, the US has been carrying out air raids in Syria to prevent a revival of the Islamic State. It took control over large areas of Syria and Iraq in 2014, where it proclaimed a so-called “caliphate” and introduced a terror regime, before being defeated in 2019 by an international coalition.
