According to Finnish services, the number of reported cases of disturbances by national and foreign ship operators is many times greater than in previous years and is estimated at thousands of. Russia interferes with satellite navigation signal to protect its infrastructure in the eastern part of the bay from the raids of Ukrainian drones.

In July, the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), after getting acquainted with the evidence presented by the Baltic States and Finland, Sweden and Poland, called Russia to stop the actions that disrupt the signals of the global satellite navigation system (GNSS), and which often forced planes and ships and drones in the Baltic Sea region to change their routes.
